Why Partner with Mosaic Biosciences

Building and maintaining a research team is expensive and time consuming. Until now, startup companies or companies looking to expand their research capabilities would need to wait for infrastructure, hire scientific and administrative teams, purchase expensive equipment, and develop a culture that pulls it all together cohesively. This can easily take a year or more, the cost is substantial, and the risk is high.

Further, it is often the case that the research team is no longer needed after the research is completed. Companies are often faced with the choice of retraining their scientists to support development activities, or going through the painful process of letting scientists go.

The good news is that now you can acquire a committed and focused research team that is led by experienced drug hunters, without having to build it yourself. Mosaic Biosciences is changing the way research is performed by providing these experienced and dedicated teams on demand and at a fraction of the total cost required to build your own.

Flexible Partnership Structures

We recognize that every partner is different - we balance business structures to meet your objectives.

Financial Structures:

We have diverse financial arrangements to offer and will work with you to determine which is most appropriate for your program. Regardless of whether your structure is Fixed Price, FTE, or Success-based, we never require long-term milestones or royalty payments.

Project Scope:

You can engage our team at any stage in your program, from concept to compound formulation. We love to carry out full protein or antibody discovery projects where we can leverage our vast experience and dedicated teams to turn ideas into preclinical candidates on time and on budget. We are always up for a challenge and excel when confronted with even your hardest research projects - from protein engineering to hard-to-express proteins to challenging analytical problems. Bring it to us – our teams will get it done.

Work Force:

We invest in expert scientists, with over 70% of our staff holding advanced degrees. We relish a challenge and employ state-of-the-art techniques to solve your hardest research projects. Working with a hard-to-express protein or a challenging analytical problem? Bring it to us – we will get it done.

Partnership Highlight

The collaboration between Mosaic Biosciences and Catalyst Biosciences is just one example of Mosaic partnership success stories, highlighting what can be accomplished when you combine purposeful partnership with research excellence. Our mutual goal was to develop a novel protease that degrades complement factor C3 for use in dry age-related macular degeneration, a disease with no currently approved therapies.

Catalyst's anti-complement program is directed at complement factor 3 (C3), a pharmaceutical target at the nexus of the complement system, a complex system that plays an essential role in innate immunity.

Starting with an early lead compound, Mosaic undertook substantial bioengineering, protein production and analytical efforts, directing multiple candidates through in vivo testing. The final composition, CB2782, was first sold to Biogen for substantial upfront, milestone, and royalty fees. Subsequently, CB2782 was sold to Vertex for $60 million in cash. We work hard to understand our partners challenges and deliver appropriate solutions, and are delighted by the thrill of discovery and the success of our partners.
